Changelog

A summary of the main releases of the ChartPad Organizational Chart, with new features and bug fixes for each version. The most recent release is listed first.

Rollout timing

After a version is released, it takes roughly 2 weeks to roll out across the Power BI online service and the Desktop applications. If you don't see the latest changes yet, allow some time for the update to reach your environment.

New features​

  • Right-to-left layout — in Arabic and Hebrew, the whole chart is mirrored: the tree, swimlanes, top bar, search, cards and landing page all read right-to-left, and the arrow keys swap so the key pointing towards a card's children expands it. A new Direction setting in the Display card forces either direction. See Right-to-left layout.
  • Arabic and Hebrew — the visual is now translated into 17 languages. See Supported languages.

Improvements​

  • On a Power BI Report Server running plain HTTP, the License card now shows a distinct "requires HTTPS" message instead of a misleading "Invalid license key".
  • Reports with a license key open faster for viewers.
  • If a license key expires while the Format pane is open, its Status line updates straight away instead of still showing the key as valid.

Bug fixes​

  • The license notification no longer appears over the landing page after the chart's fields are removed.
  • Fixed a case where a licensed user could briefly see the license notification.
  • Licensee names containing $ characters (such as "Johnson $& Co") now display correctly on the status line.

New features​

  • Card URL field — put an absolute http(s) link on each card and open it from a link icon (or Alt+Enter).
  • Levels menu — the old expand-all/collapse-all toggle becomes a menu listing every level, plus All and Reset view.
  • Expanded levels on load — choose how many levels viewers see when the report opens (1–10, default 3), alongside Expand all on load.
  • Card stacking — managers with many childless reports now stack them into a compact indented column in Top-Down layout, with a configurable threshold.
  • Model format strings respected — card values, information fields and tooltips now follow the measure's own format string, with a new Display units setting for the card.
  • Direct license keys — a License card in the Format pane accepts a signed key, licensing the visual in environments AppSource licensing doesn't cover (Report Server, Embedded, Publish to web, national clouds). Verified offline, with no external calls.
  • Zoom controls moved to a floating group at the bottom-right, clear of Power BI's own header icons.
  • Dark mode tidy-up — colour pickers that dark mode overrides are now hidden instead of appearing to do nothing.

Bug fixes​

  • Zoom and pan are preserved when expanding or collapsing a single card.
  • Fixed text labels appearing on cards that have no data.
  • Fixed report-page tooltips.
  • Prevented blank cards from rendering.
  • The license notification is no longer shown over the landing page or burned into PDF/PowerPoint exports, and key expiry is re-checked while a report is open.

New features​

  • Target attainment as a percentage — cards with a target now show attainment (112.0%) instead of a signed variance, with its own threshold pair.
  • Comparison mode setting — force % of target or change vs. previous, or leave it on Auto.
  • Refined KPI display — reworked pill, with status encoded by icon shape as well as colour.
  • Renamed the Sparkline axis field to KPI Period, and rewrote the data-role descriptions to be clearer in the Fields pane.

Bug fixes​

  • An out-of-range value in a saved report or a theme file no longer breaks rendering.
  • Cleaned up the KPI Configuration formatting card.

  • Revamped landing page with tabbed field guidance (Hierarchy · KPI · Card content · Grouping) and a Documentation button.
  • Additional locales — the interface is now available in fifteen languages.
