Changelog

A summary of the main releases of the ChartPad Gantt Chart, with new features and bug fixes for each version. The most recent release is listed first.

Rollout timing

After a version is released, it takes roughly 2 weeks to roll out across the Power BI online service and the Desktop applications. If you don't see the latest changes yet, allow some time for the update to reach your environment.

v1.7.1.5​

New features​

  • Task URLs — bind up to three URL columns to the new URLs field. Tasks carrying a link show a link icon in the task list: a single URL opens directly, two or three open a small menu labelled with your column names.
  • Resizable project hierarchy column — drag the column's right edge to resize it between 200 and 600 px, or double-click the edge to reset. Editors can also type an exact Column width; the width an editor sets is saved with the report.
  • Font controls for the task list and top bar — set the font family, size, bold and italic for the project hierarchy, and the font family and size for the top bar header.

Improvements​

  • Zoom controls moved to the left, next to the search box, so Power BI's own header icons (pin, filter, focus) no longer cover them.
  • Larger default text: the top bar header is now 10 pt, and the task list and legend 11 pt.
  • Project-list color swatches now scale with the task list font, and long task names keep a steady left edge instead of drifting as they're truncated.

Bug fixes​

  • Link tooltips no longer overlap the menu they open; each menu item now shows its own destination.
  • The license notification is now reliable on slow-loading and older Power BI hosts.

  • Direct license keys — license the visual in environments AppSource licensing doesn't cover (Report Server, Embedded, Publish to web, SharePoint, sovereign clouds) by pasting a key into the new License card. See Licensing & support.

Improvements​

  • Refreshed the visual's icon set, and replaced the owner column's text heading with an icon to save horizontal space.

New features​

  • Progress scale — choose how progress values are read: Auto (detected from the column's format), 0–1, or 0–100. Fractional measures like 0.45 no longer need converting to show as 45%.
  • Zero-duration tasks as milestones — tasks whose start and end dates are equal can be drawn as milestone markers instead of bars, with a configurable symbol.
  • Support for large datasets — the visual now loads data in segments, handling up to 90,000 rows, and tells you on-canvas while data is loading or when a dataset was too large to load in full.
  • Keyboard navigation and screen reader support — move through the task list with the arrow keys, with visible focus, high-contrast hover and selection states, and task, hierarchy, owner and extra-column values exposed to assistive technology.
  • Three new languages — Swedish, Polish and Portuguese (Portugal).

Improvements​

  • Faster rendering on resize, and for legend layout, the timeline and dependency lines.

Bug fixes​

  • Custom legend colors now stay attached to their values across refreshes.
  • Fixed a tooltip field mismatch that could send the wrong column to a tooltip.

  • Configurable milestone marker symbols — choose the shape used for each milestone marker.
  • Dynamic (conditional) formatting support — drive formatting from measures.
  • Dark mode and high-contrast support for dependency arrows.
  • Completion checkmarks in the project hierarchy — completed items now show a green checkmark (replacing the previous green text), with a toggle to show or hide them.
  • Revamped landing page.

Bug fixes​

  • Fixed a dimming bug affecting top-level project bars.
  • Fixed a 0% progress edge case.
  • Repositioned and reordered data labels so they account for dependency arrows.
  • Improved label checkmark behaviour.

  • Task dependencies — draw dependency arrows between tasks using the new Task ID and Predecessors ID fields.
  • Bookmark support.
  • "Sort by" formatting card — control the order of tasks within each level of the hierarchy.
  • Configurable project duration labels beside project bars.
  • Configurable milestone marker size.
  • Corner radius settings for both task bars and project bars.
  • WBS column refinements — left-aligned labels and a full-height divider line.

Bug fixes​

  • Predecessor values carrying extra suffixes (as exported by some planning tools) are now matched correctly, and dependency lines that ran off-screen are kept within the visible area.
  • Fixed bookmark selection bugs and edge cases.
  • Clipped progress overlays to the bar's rounded footprint.
